Lee County, FL to Consider Ordinance Affecting Well Code

Staff was directed to draft a County Ordinance in response to HB 735, that pre-empted occupational licensing to the state. The Lee County Construction License Ordinance (No. 23-09) was adopted by the Board on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, grandfathering certain existing local contractor licenses. Amendments to the Well Code are necessary to grandfather local soil boring contractors and elevator shaft contractors. Several additional amendments are necessary to the well code to update rules and allow changes necessitated by new industry practices that have changed since adoption of the previous ordinance.
