Fort Myers Beach, FL to Consider an Ordinance Affecting Property Development Regulations

The Council will consider ordinance 20-19; height and setback requirements. The Town Council has discussed options to address height and setback issues with new development since September of 2019. In February and March of 2020, the Town Council directed staff to make edits to staff prepared and proposed language for various sections addressing height and setbacks. The updated Staff Report provides a summary of the changes incorporated per the Council's direction. The Council's direction included providing a "carrot and stick" method to encourage greater setbacks for new development.
