Lauderdale by the Sea, FL to hold First Reading of Ordinance to decrease Business Tax Rates

The Town Council will consider ordinance 2015‐10 amending section 12‐22 of the town code of ordinances to decrease business tax rates as set forth in exhibit "a". Business Tax Receipts (BTRs) are issued annually for businesses within the Town, and they are regulated in Chapter 12 of the Town's Code of Ordinances. The Town receives approximately $63,000 in revenue annually from BTRs. A BTR is a receipt given for a tax paid by a business; it is not an occupational license nor does it provide regulatory approval. Council is recommending that certain BTR tax rates be reduced in amounts ranging from 14.3% to 37.5%. We are not recommending any increases or any other changes to Chapter 12 of the Town's Code of Ordinances.
